Hillside Dominates the Grounds in Impressive Sporting Display

Hillside High School showcased outstanding talent and determination across multiple sporting codes on Thursday, 19 March 2026, as the school’s teams delivered memorable performances in football and netball fixtures played at different venues.

The day began with the Open Girls Football Team, who faced Manzini Central High School at the Swazi Nation Sports Ground. This match marked the girls’ first game of the season, and they made an immediate statement with a confident and well-coordinated performance. From the opening whistle, the team displayed strong communication, discipline, and attacking intent.

Their efforts paid off as they secured a 2–0 victory, successfully keeping a clean sheet while applying constant pressure on their opponents. The win not only earned them maximum points but also set a positive tone for the season ahead, reflecting great team spirit and resilience. The match stood as a powerful example of determination and unity in women’s sport, highlighting the growing strength of the girls’ team.

At Zakhele Sports Ground in Manzini, the Open Boys Football Team took on Mhubhe High School in a highly anticipated fixture that kicked off at 12 noon. 

The match drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, with a significant number of Hillside learners in attendance, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. The support from the stands played a crucial role in motivating the players throughout the game.

The match itself was competitive from start to finish. In the first half, Mhubhe High School managed to break the deadlock and take the lead, putting Hillside under early pressure.

However, the boys remained composed and continued to fight, showing strong character and teamwork. Their persistence paid off in the second half, when they successfully equalized, bringing the score to 1–1. From that point on, both teams pushed for a winning goal, but solid defending and determination on both sides meant that the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle. The result reflected a hard-fought draw, with Hillside demonstrating resilience and the ability to respond under pressure.

Following the football fixtures, the focus shifted to the netball court, where the Hillside Netball Girls Team faced Mhubhe High School in a challenge match at medium level. The team delivered an exceptional performance, dominating play from the early stages of the game. Their sharp passing, accurate shooting, and strong defensive coordination allowed them to control the match with confidence. By the end of the game, Hillside had secured an emphatic 39–17 victory, further adding to the school’s success on the day.

Overall, the day’s results reflect a strong start to the sporting season for Hillside High School. Across all matches, the teams demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and a hunger to succeed, with players showing great commitment and pride in representing the school. The support from fellow students also played a significant role in boosting morale and creating an encouraging environment for the athletes.
