Hillside High School Girls Crowned Branch Champions

The Hillside High School Girls’ Football Team has once again made the school proud after an outstanding performance in the ESSA football competition, finishing as champions and earning the title of the best team among the country’s branches.

The road to victory began on Wednesday, 27 May, when the girls faced Moyeni High School in the semi-final at Swazi National Sports Ground. Hillside started strongly, with Yenzeka (6) opening the scoring in the first half. The team continued to dominate the match, and in the second half Wendile (12) added another goal to secure a 2–1 victory and book a place in the final.

The much-anticipated final was played on Friday, 29 May, against Central High School at Cinisweni. Determined to bring the trophy home, the Hillside girls delivered another impressive performance. Star striker Yenzeka proved unstoppable, scoring one goal in the first half and another in the second half to lead the team to a 2–0 victory and the championship title.

The team’s success is a testament to the hard work, discipline, and commitment shown by the players throughout the competition. Their achievements were guided by the dedicated coaching duo of Mr C. B. Shongwe and Mr S. Dlamini, whose leadership and support helped the team reach the top.

The celebrations continued on Monday during the school assembly, where the championship trophy was proudly presented to the entire school. The players were also awarded their medals in recognition of their remarkable performances and for bringing honour to Hillside High School.

This achievement serves as an inspiration to all learners, proving that dedication, teamwork, and determination can lead to great success. Congratulations to our Girls’ Football Team for making history and proudly representing Hillside High School as champions.
