Hillside High Speech & Prize Giving Day 2025 – A Day to Remember!

Morning Magic

The day kicked off with a powerful parade from our Military Girls, setting the tone with their precision and energy. Right behind them were our teachers and special guests, including our very own Headteacher who took his place beside the guest of honour, Dr. Mahlalela.

Our lively MCs, Mrs. Ntshangase and Mr. Shabalala, kept the crowd hyped and informed, guiding us through the day’s program with their cheerful energy.

Next, our talented school choir took the stage and sang beautifully, earning a loud round of applause. Then Pastor Rev. B. S. Qwabe opened the event with a heartfelt prayer, and our Head Girl delivered an inspiring speech that reminded us all why Hillside High shines so bright.

The entertainment just kept rolling from the Kwaito Girls’ slick dance moves to the Culture Dance group’s traditional rhythm and a touching poem by Mangaliso, our own rising star. Our Headteacher also gave a motivating address, followed by a speech from the Honourable MP, Mr. Nhlengetfwa, who shared powerful words about hard work and purpose.

Then came the man of the hour Dr. Mahlalela. His speech was nothing short of inspiring! He shared his educational journey, from diploma to degree and finally to his bachelor’s, encouraging all of us to dream big, stay focused, and never give up.

🏅 Celebrating Excellence

After the performances, it was time to honor those who truly stood out this year. We started with a warm send-off to our Form 5 students, thanking them for their time, effort, and the legacy they leave behind at Hillside High.

Then came the moment of glory  the Prize Giving Ceremony! Top students from each subject (across all class streams) received their awards, proudly handed over by Dr. Mahlalela himself. You could see the joy and pride on every face students, teachers, and parents alike.

We also celebrated excellence beyond the classroom, recognizing our stars in sports and extracurricular activities, followed by the announcement of the overall top students from each form  from Form 1 all the way to Form 5.

Our Head Girl and Head Boy were also appreciated for their dedication and leadership throughout the year. And of course, we couldn’t let the day end without showing our gratitude to Dr. Mahlalela, who received a special gift as a token of appreciation for making our day so memorable.

🙏 A Perfect Ending

To close the celebration, Pastor Rev. B. S. Qwabe led a short and touching prayer. Then came the best part for many refreshments! We feasted, laughed, snapped countless pictures, and enjoyed every bit of the afternoon before heading home, hearts full and spirits high.

The 2025 Speech and Prize Giving Day was more than just an event  it was a celebration of hard work, unity, and Hillside pride. Here’s to more milestones, more success stories, and more memories in the years ahead! 🌟.
